So the short story is that my cat had an accident in the corner of my apartment, I cleaned it up, then sat my boom pole end-down in it a few months later. Now there's green crusty stuff all over the cable connector. Is it hosed?

Stop laughing at me.

   Ok, ok ok..... I'm fine now ahum (snicker) UMMMM alright. You didn't notice the corner still had an odd oder when you set the boom pole down? OK, OK anyway, try scrubbing off the connector with soap and water, then dry thoroughly and take some emery cloth, fine grit and sand off the "rust" before you throw it away. Worse case scenario, buy a new XLR connector and replace it, they're like 5 or 6 bucks. THEN keep the cat away from your pole, which is ALWAYS good advice.....you know, particularly if it still has claws.
