Hello ,
i am currently preparing a documentary to be shot on the sony Z1 and have a small budget to buy some filters. I was circular polarizer, nd... and some softening filters.
Now the description of the Schneiders Black Frost sounds a lot nicer to me than Tiffens Black Pro Mist etc.

Schneider aparrently does not affect the blacks and takes down the highlights. Thats exactly what i want.
Any difference or have they just explained it better? Unfotunatly i don't know any place that rent Schneider Filter if so i would just do a test...

Thanks in advance!

They are similar, it's just that the heavier grades get less milky with the Schneider version. I'm not sure it matters so much with anything that can be digitally color-corrected, since resetting the black level is easy and in fact, a little loss of contrast may help improve shadow detail for color-correcting later. The advantage to the Schneiders would more be if you were switching a lot between different grades and wanted a smoother match.
