300mm tele-lens with extender

hello, next week i will be shooting a commercial with cars in the mountains.

we have a nikon 300mm T2.0 lens with us.
Now the director found a shot where we would need a 600mm lens.
it's not sure if there is enough money to take a 600mm on board.
Cheaper would be a lens extender 2.0, but i have no experience with
them, especially regarding loss of sharpness and definition.
has anyone experience to share...

It's done all the time with little detriment to the optics. It is an extender directly designed for use with the lens. It will of course eat two stops of light.
