Stephen

The next weekend will be a sci-fi party for 25 people/companies.
Very good news, indeed.

Great news and achievement too! A cinematography.com forums member is also a 35mm cinema camera manufacturer with own stuff released and running on the streets -- this is a rare événement. This hapenning should be celebrate by all, celebrate for all here.

Kudos to you Jim!!

So they are shipping on Friday? 25 of them?!?!?! Is it really true?! This weekend is a holiday in the states, will that botch the shipping? Are they being overnighted? UPS? FedEx? USPS??!?! Such of a lack of REAL information. I say it can't possibly be true!

For serious though, t'will be nice to have REAL discussions about the camera. I for one think it's going to revolutionize the porn world. Much higher production values. Every razor-bump.

Hi Chad,

That's what Jim said last Friday, I think a few people will collect in person.

To REALLY be serious, I can't wait. Speculative arguments will become factual arguments.

Hi Chad,

Then this forum will be the best place to be, where real questions can be asked & answered. I will be in Amsterdam next week so I will see a camera myself.

And there you have the RED problem in a nutshell.
"RED delivers 1st 25 cameras"
RED haven't delivered anything YET!

OK maybe they EXPECT to start deliveries on Friday, and it's not that far away, but RED have had always been in the habit of emphatically stating what they "WILL" do, rather than what they hope or expect to do.

Then we get over run with fanboys who seem to sincerely believe that they have actually used a RED camera.
eg:
"This is a great moment. All those who said 'Vapourware' should now go and hide in a cave."

Actually, until we see it working for ourselves, it still is pretty much vapourware....

"Man, watching the developments and being a part of this community over the past year or so, I feel like I actually have a Camera coming on Friday"

I just wish people wouldn't come here talking like they really believe that.

But there's still not a single post on REDuser from anyone expecting to take delivery on Friday. You'd think there's be at least ONE!

Just once, I would dearly love to hear from somebody in a position to know the answer. Not parrot what they've heard from someone equally ignorant.

Oh well, watch this space.

I'm sorry man. But I won't comment your post.

Your words are speaking for themselves. Don't you notice?

I'm so glad I've been protected from the Red propaganda by Carl Brighton and the likes, or I would have believed the hype too.
And god forbid what would have happened. I might even have got the idea to actually take a reservation myself!
Now I do know better... Thanks, Carl.
You make this world a better place.

Now I do know better... Thanks, Carl.

I seriously doubt that. Sometimes I feel so bad that I can't save everyone.
But then I read posts like yours, and then I don't feel so bad. So thank you for easing my pain like that.

the only difference between you and red fanboys is that they spend their time waiting for their cameras to arrive while you spend your time waiting for their cameras to arrive.

«Just so you know, I am here at 1:09am with the RED team personally reviewing each camera of the 1st 25. We are calibrating each camera and my job is to check the files in RED Alert! that Jarred is shooting. We are shooting ISO 320, 1000 and 2000. There are about 20 people here getting ready for tomorrow. It really is a memorable night. About a year and a half ago this was just a dream. Tonight the dream has become a reality.

I want to thank all those that believed in RED from the beginning.

Jim

The only difference between the average fanboy's brain and a bucket of marshmallows is the bucket.

Not that all RED customers are fanboys. I'me sure there must be one or two purchasers who will be able to put the RED to productive use.

I cannot believe the hype that some people are being caught up in. One would think it's the second coming...
