The stabelized shot will loose as much information (E.G. will be cropped) as it is unstable.
If it is just a little shaky caused by the registration pin or a bad cassette you will loose about 5%.
The effect however is a little weird....because you are used to some life in the image and
that is removed by those effects. You cannot use these on a panning or zooming shot.
I guess FCP uses the same type of plug-in as AVID.
Just make some off-line tests. Good luck !

Does Final Cut pro 4-6 offer image stabilization in post and how much loss of information results from using this software?
I've tried to use the the stabilization in FCP 5 but I didn't much like the results. After Effects has wonderful stabilization abilities, it's got very good motion tracking and its very easy to tweek. go AE all the way.

Way better than what FCP had previously, no comparison.
