I am an Assistant Cinematographer. We are planning to shoot a feature film in the 4 perf Super 35mm format and then blow it to 2.35:1 Anamorphic. This being the first time we are doing it in th super 35.I have these questions..

1. Can i have some idea on what would i need to do during the post production to bring out the best possible image quality and the precautions to be taken throughout the entire process.
2. What will be the equalant spherical lens for a 24mm Anamorphic lens in order to get the same feel.

Thanks

To match horizontal view, you need to use spherical lenses of roughly half the focal length, so to match a 24mm anamorphic (a rather super wide-angle lens) you'd be using something near a 12mm. Actually it's slightly less than half because Super uses slightly more negative width than anamorphic, so perhaps 13mm or 14mm.

The rules for blow-up are similar for shooting Super-16: sharp lenses, slower film stock, overexposed negative, etc. to reduce graininess from the blow-up.
