I'm new, very new to both my Canon XL-2 and Final Cut Pro 6. I am trying to transfer video from my Canon into Final Cut Pro. My Video/XL2 was recorded using 12bit 1/2, 3/4 audio (32Khz) mode so I could record to all 4 channels. 1/2 are recording my stereo front mic, 3/4 are mono wireless microphones.
I'm also recording in 16:9 aspect ratio and 60i frame rate.
I tried to find a matching setting in Final Cut Pro but can't. there is only 8, 16, and 24 bit audio modes. Although there is a 32Khz setting, there is no 12 bit setting for audio.
I'm trying to use the DV / Firewire cable to Log and Capture my video, but all I get is the color bars with "preview disabled" displayed and when I click capture it says there is no video, when I can clearly see it playing in the camera.
I know it must be possible to get this video and all 4 audio tracks across firewire. Is it? Or do I need some sort of deck attached to my Mac to get this captured properly?
Any suggestions, or suggested audio / video settings to match my setup would be great!!
