Any recommendations for finding anamorphics on the east coast (NYC/Philadelphia area preferrably) besides JDC?

I am not 100 percent sure but I don't think anyone does in NYC. I worked on Kinsey a few years ago and Fred Elmes got his cameras from CSC in NYC and I am fairly sure the anamorphic lenses came from JDC.

I can check with someone at work tomorrow.

Handheld has Elite anamorphics and TCS has (or had) JDC. Not sure if either still do but I think so.

From what I found out from a well known long established NYC camera assistant, Panavision typically sends their anamorphic lenses back to California when not in use but usually keeps one 5 to 1 or a 10 to 1 around for last minute jobs. From a real planned job they will ship in what you need.

He said that was typical for Joe Dunton too but they would send back the good stuff back to England.

He also mention that for the film "Interpreter", they went through and tested a very large amount of lenses from JDC to put together a set they were happy with both technically and aesthetically.

That mention of Handheld having lenses in the past rings a bell, but don't know if they still do.

I would call CSC too to see if something over there has cchanged in their inventory.
