I shot a documentary while traveling through south america and have some interviews that are in SPanish that I need to subtitle in English.

What is the best way to do this? If I have a one hour interview, how would I most effectively translate that into english? Would I write it out in FCP as I go?

Any help is greatly appricated!

Thanks!

write down all the transcription in word document (if you wrtie spanish) if not someone must do it for you and translate. then youre gonna have a word document with text in english, you copy and paste in final cut to sub.

And just translate what is going to be in your final cut if not you're going to spend a lot of time translating your interview. That if you understand Spanish, if you don't, well you do need to translate everything in oder for you to have a great interview flow with your documentary.

And the word document it's a great idea, simplifies everything just with copy paste.

Cheers
