Can anyone give me tips on how to splice film without having those annoying bubbles? Is it possible/cleaner to splice with magic tape/scotch tape? Because those little press-tape splces just suck.

Older tape splices don't stick very well. Spectrafilmandvideo is a distributor of hama tape splices. I am pretty certain these are new fresh splices and they should work fine. You may have to get a new splicer if your splicer doesn't work with hama, but at this point in time, the splice tape rules, in my opinion. Whatever tape splice is freshest is probably the best way to go.

People will use wood burnishers to give their splices a smooth flat looks.
