Dear friends,
Can anyone tell me how to get a DigiBeta-Tape into the Computer? What cards/slots are necessary? Is a Computer with a Athlon 64 3400+ CPU and 1 GB memory sufficient? And Adobe Premiere Pro able to work with it?
Thank you in advance!!

Hi

The Black Magic Decklink card is probably the most cost effective way of getting full quality digi-beta material into your PC

It does work with Premiere Pro, your computer is probably fast enough, 2 GB of memory is recommended on the black magic site, you will need lots of fast hard diskspace - as the files will be quite large, the black magic site has a list of recommended media drives.

Other options include the Kona Card. The kona card has several price points to it depending on whether or not you want HD capability.

The digibeta component or serial digital out and then go into the Kona card and compress at DVC-Pro 50 compression codec may be the most efficient method when you combine the amount of hard drive you need, compatibility with existing software programs you may want to run, and quality.

ideally, digital in and uncompressed would be the best quality, but you may find that an unworkable option for your set?up. I don't think you really will see that huge of a loss, (is any) with the DVC-Pro 50 compression option, it certainly will be better than DV 25.
