How do I insert pictures into my posts with out having them be gigantic?

You have to resize them first in Photoshop, whatever -- I find something around 600 to 650 pixels across is fine for most forums (a DVD frame grab is usually 720 pixels across without resizing, but it also has non-square pixels so some reshaping is necessary anyway.)

Another thing you can do is to upload your photos using www.imageshack.com, and when you are chosing the files, check the little box that says "resize photo." As David points out, you typically don't want to go over 800 pixels wide, or it will stretch the browsers of people with small screens.
