Hi,
I hope you guys don´t get anoyed for asking a question about still photography.
as a filmaker i have always used continuos lighting
i´m doing some b/w photos for bands
i have some cheap flash units, umbrellas and a sync trigger
id like to know if any of you know about a cheap digital camera i could use to check the lighting
i have a small canon camera (ixus 55), but cannot get the flash to sync even in slow flash sync mode
does any of you have an answer?
thanks
Fulgencio

Hi Fulgencio,

I don't have much experience with ixuses specifically, but quite a lot of using extra flashes with compacts (mainly Olympus) Are your external strobes set up as slaves? If so, you may find a flash setting somewhere in the ixus menu that says "slave" or something. That cuts the double flash with delays and the related problems. You can probably also adjust the output strength to make sure your "main" flash fires as planned.
If you don't have slave strobes, the sync cord connected strobe needs to be compatible with the camera's signal - I have never used that with a compact, but it is of course normal with SLRs.
Hope you work it out and get some nice cover shots.
