I use to buy "as is" cameras on ebay after buying 3 canon 1014 oldies , I have found a comon problem.

The springs in the battery terminals are glued not soldered! press against the metal base , so as years pass
conductivity decreases and you can measure voltage but when the motor ask for "juice" simply wont start.

solution is iron soldering on the spring contacts.

I have disasembled one of this cameras and I'm impress by the electro-mechanical design.
