Lens protector for a Canon 7/63 zoom?

I've got a Canon 7/63 zoom on a super16 camera. Are there any glass lens protectors available that i could put in front of the lens glass that wouldn't interfere too much with the optics?

Using a mattebox, or a clip-on mattebox for that matter? You can just drop in an optically flat filter and that'd work. They're surprisingly expensive from B&H, but it might be worth it to have one on hand for future shoots.

If worse comes to worse, just throw on a .3 ND, if you're OK with the stop loss.
