Hi,

My name is Pedro Faerstein, been working as a AC, and sometimes as DP in smaller projects, for about three years, here in Rio de Janeiro, after graduating film school. I have been looking for a good school to take some advanced courses. I was considering something like the masters at NTFS, but it would be to expensive for me.

I really liked the prospects for the Maine Media Workshops, and the workshop format seems interesting to my needs. But since my father is going to be in Berkley for 2009 I would like to know if there is something similar around that area.

Thanks for any help,

Pedro Faerstein

The Maine Workshops are fabulous. Doug Hart, who teaches AC courses there, said in a recent post on CML that the new management is doing a great job.

It seems to be really great. And the courses offered really fit my needs. But it would be much easier for me to attend something like that close to Berkley, where my father will be.

Thanks for the reply.

Two Weeks of Cinematography and Advanced Lighting Techniques in Film Studio and motion picture lab Movie and Sound (www.movieandsound.it) in Florence Italy. Combination of Film and Digital Video. Taught by award cinematographer Janusz Sikora who teaches filmmaking at University of Southern California and Dreamworks Studios. Janusz teaches his Dancing with Light Technique which is a comprehensive approach to visual expression where Cinematic Eloquence is of primary concern. Workshop is designed for Directors and Directors of photography as it deals with esthetics of cinematic interpretation. Students are encouraged to bring their own ideas as they will have chance to try their execution in professional environment of Film Studio. Program is unique in that it covers both Technical and Artistic aspects of cinematic expression.
