I was thinking about this again today; do we still have interest in having one? How do you think you could help? What would you like to have there regarding food/activities...etc

Do you think this is a bad idea?

Burgers/Dogs/Steaks, etc...

Activities wise, Movie tech/DP trivia.

We could do some DP/AC olympics, in honor of the Summer Olympics coming up:

Timed mag loading.

50 yrd. dash, carrying a tripod, setting it down then balancing.

Throwing a sandbag and guessing the distance.

Looking through a camera viewfinder & quietly guessing the focal length.

Discus (with a roll of gaffer tape)

those are my ideas for now.

Sigh.

Why does nothing like this ever happen here?

Great ideas, Jon.

If it rains and we have to go inside, how about "guess the footcandles?"

Absolutely! Just bring your body armour and we can picnic among the burned-out Ford Fiestas.

Sweeeeeeeeeeet

And medals in the form of 1000' canisters on a ribbon. I have a gold one, a silver one (print stock), and we could just use a 400' canister for bronze :)

This is going to happen. Preparations are all ready in progress. Keep throwing idea's out there and getting people interested in coming. We should all decide on a date within the next few weeks. The location will be at the Alta Plaza Park in Pacific Heights.

Alta Plaza's nice, quite central and especially convenient for you Jamie. Yeah, we should definitely set the date then get the word out there to as many people as we can.

Convenient yes, but it has amazing views. I figure with a crowd of cinematographers, we would have some pretty sweet pics!

I've been spreading the word and getting some input, and a lot of people seem to really be into the idea of having a cine picnic, and having some Grip/AC Olympics.
