Hey Dear fellow Filmmakers,

I have few questions concerning the Arriflex D-21.

1, Can i rent one in NY? and how about Munich?

2, Does any one have a reel that was shot on the D-21? or even some color charts for comparison?

3, Is D21 more reliable than the RedOne Camera?

4, How does the post production workflow work?

Sorry for asking questions that might be found elsewhere..

I work in china, and we are shooting a feature in NY, Munich, the Dp wants me to find a suitable Digital formated Camera that is closest to FIlm and gives us a lot of room to work with in D.I.

Thanks again..

There are some tests here:

The RED tests are old, so won't be the same as the more recent builds. I wouldn't make decisions just on these tests.

as for reliability compared to the red the short answer is YES.

I was involved in shooting a green screen comparison with the red and the d21 and we ran into a problem with the red not playing back due to a codec error.

The D21 outputs single link, or dual link HDSDI. Most people record to the SRW1 sony HDCAM SR deck and follow a standard tape based workflow. The camera can also output raw to the StwoDFR2k hard drive unit. It can also record to a grass valley flashmag.

Hey Shaun ,

You think you got any color chart test shots with the D21?
Also hows the workflow with the D21? Got any links on that? or personal experience with it?

Thanks.
