I'm new here and I've never had a payed job as DP, couple of general questions, questions I can't seem to get answers for elsewhere.

What is the more common pay arrangements for a DP, contract or PAYG?

What is the minimum pay for australian dp, I know that the american dp's get payed something like $653 daily and $2787 weekly through the Local 600, but I don't think there is a camera union (or secular DP) and therefore a recommended minimum for a dp.

Thanx.

Hi Julian.

There is the MEAA. They set things like this, but i rarely work for MEAA rates unless it's a government funded production. It' usually a lot more or a lot less ;-)

The rate for a DOP is $1500 approx per week. You can look at it here.

The reality is that it's highly varied. Most commercial DOP's would be on 2-5K per day. Lot's of owner operators with a camera and some basic lighting would be on 2K per day...

Unless it's a long running show, you wouldn't be doing PAYG.
