How do you shoot this time lapse?

For months now I've been trying to shoot a time lapse with a really blurred effect with the traffic. I can't just get it right at all.

I want to shoot something similar to the video, I have done a ton of time lapses but I just can't one of city cars.

I know how to change a time lapse on my camera, but do you also need to fool around with the shutter?

Your on the right track. You need to adjust the shutter speed so the exposure time is longer than a fraction of the second. If your using a dSLR then you should easily be able to adjust the shutter speed from 1/3 of a second to up to 30 seconds - take a few test shots to figure out what gives you the best effect. If your using a video camera then you'll probably be limited to about 1/3 of a second (I think that's about as low as you can go on video).

Which camaera are you using ?

the shutter speed looked like something shortish, perhaps .5 or 1 second...
