Scene location:
http://www.flickr.co...ol-fullerton_ca

Hi,

I'm a newby filmmaker based in orange county california. I'm looking to shoot a scene at the above location, it's the Fullerton post office, from generally the same angle. I'm imagining the actress to come around the corner and walk up and down the storefronts talking on her cellphone. I'm looking to shoot in all natural lighting, deep focus, with no cuts/ all in one take. Something like Cassevetes but on a tripod. Some of my influences range from Raoul Coutard, Vilmos Zsigmond, Emmanuel Lubezki, and of course, Christopher Doyle. The actress will have a white skin tone.

Do you guys have any advice for a beginner filmmaker?

My camera is a Sony HDR-FX7 3CMOS HDV 1080i Camcorder w/ a standard lens -
I know, not the greatest professional camera, but it's all i got.

Thanks,
L

If you're mounting it on a tripod, make sure it is the best tripod you can get. If you own a $200 one, consider renting a $2000 one, it will make a difference.

Also consider the differences between the light and dark areas of the image. A DSLR can handle it, but under the wrong conditions an FX7 may not be able to.

What other equipment do you have access to apart from the camera? Any filters etc etc.. if you want to enhance the blue in the sky a circular polariser would be a good idea.
