spherical scope in S16

hello
my point is to be able to film in the aspect ratio 2:35 in the S16 format.
the idea is to scan/shoot the film aplying a strech to obtain an anamorphic 35.


does this route make sens to you?
as it been done before? on what film?
as this route been discused already?

will the size of the neg left in 2:35 be enougth to hold the scan?

There have been quite a number of S16 movies to shoot spherical, crop to 2.40, then film-out to anamorphic 35mm -- "The Wrestler" did that.

You don't need to apply a stretch -- that happens in the laser recorder transfer to 35mm. You just have to compose for the crop.

As you can imagine, you are using less negative in S16 by doing this crop.
