We shot this Law and Order / CSI take off on our RED One and I wanted some feedback on what anyone thinks. we tried to match the color palette of some of those shows and the handheld camera style. hopefully it's really funny too since that's why we really made it. the URL is

thanks for looking:)

It's handheld, but not close to anything L&W or CSI do. Rarely do they carry out a scene in a single shot, just panning between actors in a dialogue. Also, was the camera off balance on your shoulder? Everything was dutched camera right.

The dead girl's pretty though :)

Yeah, what a lot of people _mostly those who have never worked on a big budget feature, commercial or music video, etc_ don't understand is that the look of any of those products is the work of hundreds of talented professionals working around the clock to give it production value, unfortunately needing big budgets to achieve the coveted "look".

Herein lies the mirage of HD-cameras and particularly RED marketing, the notion that by buying a RED ONE and dialing a "look" one's DIY Law and Order / CSI spoof will look like the real deal. I am afraid it doesn't. It looks like what it is, a group of young people with a video camera unsuccesfully trying to emulate a big budget show.

Sorry, don't want to be harsh, but you asked.

You would be better served trying to create a product that is not a spoof on CSI or any prime time, big budget show. Something you can call your own, whatever that may be. Something it is not supposed to look like a product you simply don't have the budget, resources, etc to correctly emulate.
