I bought a quarts head brand new off of ebay, its a fancier quarts head with a built in fan and softbox, im getting humming from the internal fan, I was wondering if anybody had tips of reducing the sound or maybe there's some type of software I can buy that eliminates unwanted sounds in post? Thanks!

Just about every sound editing app has some sort of "Stamp" tool where you take a sample of the humming and set it as the source and remove it from an entire clip. I do this a lot with background noise when I shoot DV with an on cam mic. Just make sure you have room tone to lay underneath your dialogue and foley.

Hi Alfredo,

there's not much you can do. These lights are meant for still photography, not cine use. Other than moving them farther off or shooting MOS you're pretty much out of options other than extensive sound posting which will probably not yield qualityresults either.

Cheers, Dave
