I am Ashokkumar, working as asst cinematographer. can i know the advantage and disadvantage of using a tungsten stock in day, using 85 filter. My cinematographer use this way. explain please :rolleyes:

HI, Normaly folks are asked to use their first and last name in the forum.

IF you use tungsten film in daylight, you will generaly have fewer problems if you use the 85 filter as the colour balance of your negative will match tungsten neagtive shot under tungsten, or daylight negative shot in daylight. Not using the filter means your have to correct when you print or scan the negative and you may not have enough corection room.

Two advantage of using tungsten film this way is that there are more types of tungsten film available, you can use the same stock for both indoor and outdoor shots.
