This popped up on eBay, had never even heard of one before, much less seen one. I guess they made these before they started making their own camera systems, back when they were mostly renting ARRI gear. Or I could have that totally wrong. :rolleyes:

That's a real old timer, looks to be at least twice as thick as the usual flat bases. Panavision always had their own cameras, but in the pre-panaflex days (PSR cameras), they were as big as Mitchell's BNCR. To fill the need for smaller lighter cheaper MOS cameras, Panavision modified Arri II-C's.

Panavision only rents stuff, they never sell anything.

Funny I just read this post earlier today and 10 minutes later saw this same style flatbase in the behind the scenes footage of Soylent Green on TBS...

I do have the same unit. It needs 24V and the maximum speed in VAR mode is 32 fps. I've heard a rumour that Panavision had once cleared out their inventory and sold off a truck-load of stuff.
