Nice detailed series of articles here. I thought some of you might find this interesting. They go over the projection and show a few of the types of cameras they have.

I don't know what to think about this whole IMAX fiasco. On the one hand, I feel that IMAX is debasing and dishonoring their good name with these half-ass "IMAX Lite" screens. On the other hand, if I can pay a couple bucks more to get a far superior experience at one of these theaters for a movie I really, really want to see but that is not being offered on any real IMAX screens, perhaps it would be worth it. I guess I will reserve judgement until I can see a screening at one of these theaters.

Are these IMAX Lite screens equipped for 3D?

I haven't run across these new IMAX theaters, but I've already heard online complaints about them. IMAX is shooting themselves in the foot by debasing their brand name and making it meaningless. First instead of 15-perf 65mm photography, we get digital blow-ups from 35mm, which is really not much better than the old 70mm blow-ups we used to get. Now we get dual 2K projectors on a screen that is too close to the audience, of movies shot in 35mm? And that still gets called IMAX???

The problem with digital 4k cinema is that it is limited to 24 frames per second. 2k digital cinema goes all the way up to 48 frames per second so that the temporal resolution is better than 4k.
