Firstly, I'd like to say hello to this community. I joined a few minutes ago. B)

I think the title says it all. There's a lot of knowledge and experience flowing through these forums, and I hope you'll share some of it with me. I've got a budget of $500, and I'm looking for the best video tripod that amount can buy. It needs to rise to at least my height (6'; a little higher is better), and it also needs to go low (the closer to the ground the better). That's the criteria. Fire away.

Probably Manfrotto MN501HDV525PKIT.
If you can get the older fluid head without the "HDV"-addon.
The older is made of aluminium and the newer is mostly plastic... (they say it's teflon though)

It depends on the weight of the camera, really. But if your budget is only $500 you take what you can get. Manfrotto tripods are generally good for the money spent. ;)

I have Vinten Pro6 toght this is about $900 but you for sure can find used one, or one model lower Pro5 for your budget. they are realy nice, very fluid head. and easy to use and set up.

I highly suggest the Libec L-22 series over the Bogen tripods. If you only have $500 to spend, the Libec is night and day smoother than any sub $1500 bogen tripod.
