I saw a sequence on Science of the Movies about Christien Tinsley's technique for creating special effects makeup using frozen glue. Apparently when glue (I'm not sure what type of glue) is frozen, if becomes a polymer and when brought back to room temperature, if stays a polymer. It is then transferred to paper, covered appliance glue. The actor's skin is cleaned with an astringent and the the appliance is applied. It supposedly can cut the time it takes to apply FX makeup in half or more. For a low budget horror pic, that would be a godsend as time is money and the less money you have, the more time you need to save, PLUS these transfers are incredibly realistic and seamless. Does anyone know of any on line tutorials on this technique? (I'd hire Mr. Tinsley, but looking at his credits, he probably will be too busy working for BIG productions) Thanks-Steve B)
