I just rented the Blu-Ray disk "For All Mankind" which is a documentary of the Apollo moon landings. I remember when I was a little 8 year old boy watching the Apollo 11 moon landing live on my television and I was so disappointed with the horrible picture quality. However the astronauts also brought with them 16mm film cameras. Recently the original 16mm film that was kept all these years in cyrogenic vaults has been thawed out and blown up to 35mm prints for theatrical release and high definition 1080p Blu-Ray. The results are stunning and I would have to say that 16mm film is a full high definition format as far as outdoor shooting is concerned. Also included is the 1965 Gemini space walks which were filmed in high definition.
