hi all

i just bought a cannon 1014 auto zoom electronic but it doesn't run. when i pull the trigger a little red light in the bottom left of the view finder comes on (i don't know what this means). it doesn't have any film in it and i've put fresh batteries in. if anyone knows what's wrong or if anyone knows any where to get it repaired around Plymouth (uk) it would be much appreciated

hello,

I read your post, the website below might be helpful. If you feel adventurous you could take it apart yourself, or try finding a repair shop.

I have had problems with seized cogs in two Canons (not the 1014, but they seem to be somewhat similar). If you take off the casing, press the trigger and see if you can move the series of cogs coming from the main motor with your finger. If it's just a little stiff, with the help of a finger the motor might start to turn it for a few seconds. Don't grease the cogs as they can become gummed up, but maybe some cleaning is necessary?
