Hello to everybody.

I would capture 14 hours with out interruption with Sony Cinealta HDW-F900R and without compression. I know that its impossible to rec the video and audio in camera’s VTR and i would like to find another way to capture the video. Do you have any idea???

Thank you.

Hi,

You will need a very large raid for that, I hope you have a suitably large budget.
HDCAM recorded on board is fairly heavily compressed, if you donut object to that compression you could have 2 recorders, starting the second recorder before the first one finishes.

Works out to about 10 terabytes. Not particularly hard to do, and certainly very much cheaper than buying any high def Sony VTR! Could get it in a 4U rack case probably.

If you want to do it, give me a shout and we shall...

Hi Phil,

I was assuming renting the vtr's!
What is the ballpark cost?

Depends.

At the "throw it together in your bedroom" rate, a few thousand. At the "we want this to work every day for a year" rate, ten or fifteen.
