Is ecc memory essential for editing ?

Hi,
I have a power mac G5 quad 2.5 machine and want to upgrade the ram...is the ecc type better than the non ecc type for HD editing ( final cut pro )...?

No, as far as I know it is not. Only use ECC and/or registered RAM if the mobo requires its use.

No.

It's a nice thing to have but I've been cutting things for more than ten years and I don't think I've ever had a single machine that had ECC memory.

thanks for the confirmation ...I'll go ahead and get non ecc...I hear that ecc ram slows things down a little too
