Hey Kevin,

I'm assuming that you've gotten your 17.5 up and running again at this point.
I just picked one up and I was wondering if you ever had trouble getting the lens hood off and if you had any recommendations. I think the guy who serviced mine prior to me owning it may have bonded the hoods to the aperture ring when he repainted the inside.

Thanks for your time and any advice,

nope i want to find a dead one because my rear element is scratched and usually its the front element that gets damaged.

If you can't source a spare rear element and the scratching is not too deep you could have it polished out and recoated.

its too deep from what i can tell. even if it wasnt im guessing the cost would be more than the value of the lens.
