Chair of Visual Effects
SCAD Savannah seeks candidates for Chair of the Department of Visual Effects. Qualified candidates will have a graduate degree in a field related to visual effects production, or will possess an undergraduate degree in a related field combined with extensive industry-related experience. Significant professional resume as a visual effects producer, supervisor or facility manager, or as a lead member of a visual effects production team in at least one of the principal areas of visual effects production such as digital effects animation, technical direction, lighting, compositing, effects programming or creation of virtual 2-D and 3-D environments, is essential. College level administration and teaching experience are strongly desirable, but familiarity with and contacts within the current professional environment are equally important. Chair responsibilities include teaching courses in visual effects, day-to-day administration of the academic department, development of curriculum, fostering inter-departmental collaboration and continuing to enhance the reputation of the SCAD Visual Effects Department in academic and professional circles. Candidates must demonstrate proven leadership skills in addition to a strong sense of vision for the department. The Visual Effects program at SCAD offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and provides a unique combination of professional instruction built upon a traditional fine arts foundation. Visual effects majors may choose a minor in a complementary subject such as film and television, technical direction, architecture, photography or storyboarding. Students work individually and collaboratively within a framework of cooperative activity that reflects the real-world experience of film and digital entertainment production.
