I'm a junior artist working on the front end (menu system) for a video game based around a well known film license. We have a 3D scene in the background and I would like it to capture some of the qualities of real film, as opposed to the crisp digital look it has at the moment.
Currently we are using bloom, and I would love to get some depth of field going on in there if the coders have time to implement it but given the time left and the budget for this project I suspect we will be pushed into an overall post process solution.
More specifically, my questions are, what makes high grade film look like film? How does film improve the colours shot? And lastly, I have heard of post process effects film makers can apply over digital work to make it look higher budget, what do these effects do?
Forgive my ignorance,
Flim effect for 3D video game.
