Greetings,

Any LA based people who would like to come and see my latest film, The Dogfather, may see it on the big screen at the International Family Film Festival on Friday, March 12th at 3pm.

The festival is at the Raleigh studios on Melrose, The Dogfather will be in the Chaplin theatre.

Here's a link with all the info:

http://iffilmfest.org/08Events.shtml

http://iffilmfest.or...dogfather.shtml

I'll be there, so if you're not doing any thing please drop by. If you have kids, bring em', they may get a laugh or two out this.

The Dogfather was shot on Fuji Eterna stocks, and the DOP was Denis Maloney, ASC.

There are a couple floating around, but, I don't have clearance to post them to the web.

Any why can't you make it? Working a day job? Give me your bosses number I will call him for you.

HEY HEY Congrats, Richie!! :D If I had the cash, I'd fly out for that, if for no other reason than to have a beer wichya (yeah, I know i'd be crappy American beer, but whatcha gonna do). BUT now that you're a world famous, fabulously wealthy, internationally acclaimed film director, you could always send your private Lear jet for me, OH but please do make sure to have those playboy bunnies you hang out with now act as stewardessess and that the Perrier-Jouët Fleur de Champagne the 2000 Brut Blanc de Blancs and Beluga caviar on ice as it should be. Oh if you could get one of your new buddies like Travolta to pilot the plane, even better. :D

Well it's not a huge deal, it's not Sundance or Cannes. Although I should be at Cannes this year as I will have two films in the film market.

I will try and find a film fest to run it at closer to your house James, we might have to settle for a bed sheet screen in your backyard. With a bunch of your rowdy Texas film buddies :D

I apologize in advance for my ignorance, but didn’t Dark Reprieve already sell? I’m corn-fused

Yes, in the USA and several other foreign territories, but there are still several territories left to sell. So each year the distributor will take Dark Reprieve and all of their other movies back to the Cannes film market and keep selling them until all the un-sold territories are either sold or can't be sold.

It’s a drag how tricky all that stuff is. I’m just finishing my movie now (supposed to get the first sound mix this week, but that’s not looking likely) and while I don’t plan on actually selling it as it’s a drama with no names, just the festival thing is looking pretty terrifying.

I had this dude who made a little no-budget comedy once tell me he’s not asking for much, just to get into Sundance and sell the movie for at least four million…

I had to cover the phone while I laughed my a—s off.

I would never expect more than three…

There are a lot of people out there that have, and will, learn a very harsh lesson in this business.

I meet them every day. Sadly "film schools" are filling young guys heads with dreams of millions and fame, any one who dares to disagree is labelled "an old fart that failed."

R,

I gotta be there and watch the first day's stuff in the timing bay at the facility, on a good broadcast quality monitor. Thereafter, I insulate the DP and production team from notes based on the faulty setup of people's TV sets -- or if there really is something wrong, notify the AP, DP, Mixer, UPM, etc. We don't want to shoot day 2 with the same problem. It's part of the job....

It was great, the crowd of about 120 people really responded well. There where a couple of big laughs, and a lot of smaller ones. Several in places I never expected the audience to laugh. So I was very happy with the result.

Unfortunately my good time here has been marred by negative experiences "with LA." Last night was quite terrifying, I won't get into details. But holy cow, I'll be glad to get on that plane tomorrow!!
