I'm going to be using the camera on a Technocrane and a stabilised scorpio head. Is there any way to operate the on/off remotely?

Thanks

you don't need this

you can plug your 5d with long USB cabel to your laptop with the canon utility softwere program in it( it's on the cd you got from canon)
then you have full remute control over the camera and the laptop is your monitor

i used it many times. great solution
