Would the red one camera be a substitute of 35mm film camera?

That's what its being sold as. However, there are differences between film and the RED One and indeed between the 2 versions of the RED (with and without the MX sensor upgrade). Which you go for may come down to your budget or the look you prefer for the film you're making. Given the choice many people still go for film.

No is the short answer it is not a substitute, it is an alternative. Most cinematographers ( who are not also producers and directors ) would shoot film. You should do a search on this can of worms and enjoy!

The only way to really answer this question would be to answer it for you... is the red a substitute/alternative to 35mm film for you and your particular project at the moment. Like many things in this biz, you have to get used to the fact that there are few hard-fast black and white answers.
