I've written some harsh (but true) things about the class ridden media industry in the UK just lately, so it's nice to be able to post this and have a little balance.

Here is the trailer for Sofia's new film "Somewhere":

This is looking FANTASTIC! I had no idea that she had been working on a new film.
If nothing else I'm loving the trailer. I'm hoping the film will be just as good!

I have to say that I didn't think Marie Anoinette was as good as the trailers for it although I did really like that film too. I'm a bit strange as I was not that excited by "Lost in translation". I liked it but not as much as everyone else it seems. I actually far prefer Marie Antoinette, and until now the Virgin Suicides is still my fave.

Sofia is already getting some really harsh commentary. For example:

"Beautiful, privileged white people suffering amidst beautiful and privileged surroundings. Love that she’s branching out."

Personally I respect the fact that she makes films that connect with her own experiences. Isn't that what people should be doing? Much better than a bunch of middle class people making documentaries/doc-ent about people on council estates like we have on UK TV here.

Go Sofia!

Not been looking forward to too many films lately but this is looking great.
Really nice cinematography too!

Though I agree with you and I am excited for Sofia's newest, I couldn't help but recall Lost in Translation when I saw the trailer. Granted it's only the trailer, but I couldn't shake the feeling and draw some parallels.
