Hi there, my name is James and I do hate to be all new and bringing my problems here, but I'm getting desparate :/
I bought a Chinon 805S about two years ago for around £5 - perfect working order, no filth or crud on the lenses, clean as the day it was manufactured... and it was fine for about a year and a half, motors turned and the zoom worked. It wasn't until I fitted a light meter battery that I started to have issues with it. The trigger is horribly tempermental and it took one or two goes to get the motor working, but kept running without problems.
So, I have my first roll of film to use and I've shot about 5ft so far. Thing is, the motor is just.. not working. Whatsoever. I'm on holiday on a hot island, which could be the issue. I've let it cool off in the shade indoors - alas, no motor movement. Changed batteries... nothing. I find that pressing the motor battery test button sometimes gets it going, but it doesn't work on this occasion (the battery test light still turns on, though).
The zoom, light meter and all other electronics work perfectly. I am thinking perhaps the gears need oiling (if that's what they need to keep moving), but there's a roll of film in there and I'm too scared to open it up.
Any ideas? Shall I just cut my losses and get another camera or is this something I can smack in a paticular place to make it work again?
