I am trying to locate production information on the Cine-Kodak Special 16mm movie camera, manufactured between 1933 and 1948.

Does anyone know how many Cine-Kodak Special cameras were manufactured between 1933 and 1948 before this model was replaced by the Cine-Kodak Special II? Do Kodak records still exist so that the date of manufacture of a particular Cine-Kodak Special came be determined from its serial number? The Eastman Kodak Company once kept a complete registration of every Cine-Kodak Special sold. Does anyone know if these records still exist and is it possible to learn who the original purchaser of a particular camera was, based on the serial number? Is anyone currently using the Eastman Kodak Company production records to do serious research on the Cine-Kodak Special camera in preparation for writing a book or scholarly article? If so, is it possible for me to contact this individual (or individuals) directly with my questions? Is there an organized group of Cine-Kodak Special collectors?

Any help or information will be greatly appreciated.

Gary,

Thanks for responding to my request. The book shown in the link you provided was published by Kodak back in the 1930s-1940s as a glorified advertisement for the Cine-Kodak Special. It is of particular interest today because it shows many of the accessories that were once made for the Special. There is still a need for someone to publish a book or article detailing the history of the Cine-Kodak Special.
