I like the manual focus and shallow depth of field and large sensors of these DSLRs, and the Canon 550D/T2i can overcrank to 60 in 720p, and shoots 1080p at 30/25/24 fps. Looks to me like a great price for all that, aliasing notwithstanding.

Will it be necessary to transcode to another codec in order to edit with iMovie HD? Is framerate conversion going to mess up the video quality? Anyone had experience with the 550D and iMovie HD? What program would be ideal?

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see the DSLR part of the forum. But I'll keep this question here so that I can amend it to ask: is a camcorder like the EX1 really THAT much better in low light than the Panasonic HDC-TM700? And what other advantages does that Sony have over that Panny? The TM700 has manual focus, and can record 1080 60p. Seems pretty damn good for the money, no?
