We're gearing up for a small experimental shoot and there is a scene in a half circle booth in a bar (actually a coffee shop doubling as, but that isn't important).

Shooting with a Canon 60D and using natural light, it's just a bit too muddy. It would be great to have something we could put on the table that looks like a lamp. I actually looked around for some lamps, but all were too big and too fugly.

So I am asking if anyone has any ideas. Maybe this is pie in the sky, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

An aside... it's amazing how much light an iPhone can emit. We are going to use one for a shot. Kinda cool.

If you have a table lamp as a practical, have you tried replacing the bulb with 150w photoflood and wrapping diffusion inside the shade? Another approach would be lighting straight down from above the table, to augment the practical lighting.

there are all sorts of fixtures out there that you can buy. Incandescent, Fluorescent, LED. And all sorts of power supplies. you can do 120 volts (if in the US) or battery powered to be truly portable. Or if you can't find exactly what you are looking for you can easily build something.
