Yes, I need to take a young girl's voice and make it sound like that of a scary demon. I'm on a Mac platform and using Final Cut, etc. We tried pitch shifts, doubling/off-set, reverb, etc and I'm not too happy with the results. Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any plug-ins?

Thanks.

Good casting - too late for that ?

Hmmm, but in trying to be helpful:

Try to find an original Eventide Harmonizer 949 to play around with. A combination of pitch change, flanging, and reverb may get you what you want.

Eventide has a Pro Tools "Clockworks Legacy" plug-in that emulates the early Harmonizers. I don't have experience with it but since it's the people who created the original, it's probably pretty good...it's also VERY pricey.

You've got me thinking however, I think I know where there's an unloved H910 sitting in a junk box!

You may have already tried it, but recording the dialogue as a stereo track, then pitch shifting one channel down say 3 tones, and the other channel down 5 tones works well. You may need to be more extreme with a young girl's voice.

Another trick is to reverse the sound, and then add a long reverb. Record the whole effect to a new track and then reverse it again. The reverb tails now come before the words themselves. Sounds great, particularly if you combine it with a pitch shift.
