Hey guys, new to this form and fairly new to lighting. I'm DP'ing a friend's project this Friday and he sent me this as a reference for the kind of look he's going for: . Skip ahead to the dinner part. We're not planning on using candlelight, but he wants a similar look. We have a standard Mole kit (2x650s,2x300s, and a baby 1k) and a Kino Diva kit, and a decent collection of gels as well. We're going to be shooting on a 5D. My gut tells me just throw some CTO and some diff on a 650 and bounce it off the ceiling, but I don't have much experience so I was wondering what you guys had to say. Anyone have any advice? Thanks!
Looking for a similar look to this scene

Yes, it's basically a soft key, not that overhead however... you could bounce off of the ceiling for the widest shots but once you get closer, you may want to bounce off of white cards/boards that are closer to eye level, or go through frames. The main thing is to be able to skirt or flag the bounce off of the background so that it falls off.

For close ups you might also want to consider using the Diva dimmed down to add some eye light. Definitely light from eye-level not top, unless the source of light is motivated from the ceiling like a chandelier or something?
