I haven't seen any threads on this so I thought I would share this.

I was lucky to be on vacation in Paris last week and I made my way to see the Kubrick exhibit at the Cinematheque. It was nothing less than astonishing. Christiane Kubrick did all of the Kubrick fans out there a true service by allowing some of Kubrick's most personal items to be showcased - script notes, Stanley's personal lens sets, the ARRI 2C he used on "A Clockwork Orange," all of the index cards that held the research he did for "Napoleon," a Christmas card sent from Stanley and Christiane to Johanna ter Steege assuring her that the film would come to fruition, and so much more.

Of course, the largest section was devoted to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Many of the actual props (for all of his films) were on display. It was amazing to see everything in the flesh. A "Dawn of Man" set was even there to simulate the front-projection technique Kubrick used for that sequence (something I never knew!)

It was a real treat to see. If any of you are located in Paris or plan to be there before the exhibit ends, you MUST see it! I hope it makes its way to the US. This is something every film lover needs to experience.

Long live Stanley...and thank you.

The Stanley Kubrick Exhibit is now at LACMA in Los Angeles - November 1 2012 - June 30, 2013

I haven't been yet but am going today, but my friends who went yesterday reported that the lens and camera gear portion of the exhibit are enough to blow your mind, much less Stanley's notes and various props, etc from the films. We all watched The Shining and Dr. Strangelove together last night.
