I've done some searching over the past few days and haven't found any results, though forgive me if this is out there and Ive just missed it.

Using an anamorphic lens/adapter on a 16:9 sensor will obviously produce a ridiculously wide image, that will require cropping to achieve 2:35. As the 5D offers a SD mode in 4:3, that would be the easier solution workflow wise I would imagine (considerably lower resolution of course but I may be ok with this.

Has anyone done any anamorphic tests with the 4:3 SD mode on the 5D (or any other canon dslr I suppose)?

You can use one of the ridiculously expensive ISCOrama lenses. These have a 1.5x sqeeze. Very good filming in HD for scope aspect ratios. Will work with 50mm lenses up on a 5D and 35mm and up on a 7D or similar APS-C sized sensors.

Has a 58mm thread, so it only works with the smaller Canon lenses.
