Does anyone know how they lit this? It seems like they are reflecting light of the lake but I'm not sure. Go to the video to get a better look at it: http://rivetingenter..._lights_off.htm

Any help would be appreciated

The didnt light it. it is just the sun bouncing off the water. the staged so they were backlit against the setting sun.

Can it be done with lights? Would it look the same?

The suns light is for all intents and purposes collimated and very intense, hence it's ability to still blow a sensor to clipping or film to the propeller on its cap (well past its shoulder) even when only a partial amount of it is being reflected off the waters surface.

To get a similar effect you'd need a lot of light, try reducing the angle that you are picking up any reflection from also.

It wont look the same, but it'll be something - could be nice... no harm in giving it a go
