Hi,

I want to do HD video from an airplane, but need advice on which type of pro camcorder. I have been told that becuase of the vibration in the aircraft I must be careful which medium the camcorder writes to (i.e. disc, card etc). Any advice on what specs a camcorder must have to take high quality footage from an aircraft.

What type of aircraft do you plan to film from? It's more likely to be the CMOS sensor that may cause problems, although you may run into vibration issues with a hard drive recorder.

Filming from a small 4-seater, fixed wing, called a Jabiru 430. Why would the CMOS sensor be a problem?

CMOS can be more prone to jello cam effects, it's mostly seen on the DSLRs, but worth checking for it on the camera you plan to use.

Just got timed out... I guess the aircraft should be any worse than other light aircraft in the weight range, although you do tend to be restricted to using wide angle lenses. I'd keep to either solid state memory or tape, rather than risk drop frames when using a hard drive recorder.
